Tourist Places in Kota

An epitome of mysticism and historic charm, Kota, is a province in Rajasthan on the eastern bank of River Chambal. Its history goes back to the 12th century A.D. when Rao Deva, the ruler, conquered the region and founded Bundi and Hadoti. Kota is an important historic city of Rajasthan. Once the part of the erstwhile Rajput kingdom of Bundi, Kota became an independent princely state in 1624, when the Mughal emperor Jehangir defeated its rulers. Kota is famous for its architectural heritage comprising of beautiful palaces, temples, museums, all reflecting the splendor of the bygone era. Kota has a number of exciting tourist attractions to see.  In the rule of Mughal Emperor Jahangir, Rao Ratan Singh, the head of state of Bundi gave this territory to his son, Madho Singh. Kota since then grew into a cultural hub. Durbar Hall:
The Durbar Hall is decorated with beautiful mirror work. It has delicately carved ebony and ivory doors. Gracefully carved miniatures of the Kota School are housed within the Durbar Hall. 

Jag Mandir: 
Jag Mandir basically reminds you of the fables of charming castles, beautiful princesses and handsome and valiant princes. The enchanting Jagmandir Palace is located on a small island in the Kishore Sagar Lake. It was built in 1740 by one of the Maharanis of Kota.  Constructed amid the Kishore Sagar Lake in 1346 A.D by Prince DherDeh of Bundi, it looks scenic as the red sandstone monument stands bounded by the placid waters of the lake. Visitors take pleasure in boat rides in the lake. The Keshar Bagh located very near is well-known for royal cenotaphs.

In the center of a market stands the gorgeous haveli of Devta Shridharji. Its walls are magnificently decorated with frescoes and murals. Rajasthani art is actually at its best inside the haveli.

Kota Barrage and Chambal garden are the ideal places for outings and casual walks. Chambal garden is a scenic garden in Amar Niwas. 

Rao Madho Singh Museum:
This museum preserves exclusive collection of ancestral treasures. This 17th century Kota Fort Palace which has been molded many a time encompasses halls, courtyards buildings, and temples. 

The Government Museum: 
The Government Museum is situated within the Brijvilas Palace near Kishore Sagar. The museum displays manuscripts, an uncommon assortment of coins and Hadoti sculpture. An intricately carved statue from Baroli holds great interest from the visitors.
